Cars get internet connection, study says
An Invensity poll showed that more than 50 percent of the automotive experts assume that not only luxury and medium-size vehicles will likely be equipped with internet access; instead, all cars will have this ability.
New developments in infotainment will have the strongest impact on electronic car interiors, 95 percent of the experts predict. In contrast, only 63 percent believe that emission reduction will significantly affect the automotive electronics landscape, while 58 percent said safety will have a strong impact.
The strongest need for action is in the standardization area, the experts explained. 74 Percent of them claimed the automotive hitherto industry has failed to sufficiently drive and develop infotainment standards. Similarly, in the realm of car-to-car communications, 63 percent of the experts polled believe standards are not developed far enough.
