Here supplies highly exact map data as a cloud-based service. The basic map information is complemented by traffic data and location intelligence. These digital maps contain exact road geometry data along with traffic sign data, enabling semi- or fully automated driving functions. Additional functions include Send-to-Car: Drivers can plan their route on a PC or tablet and have the route planning data automatically transferred to the vehicle’s navigation system.
Inrix offers real-time traffic data as well as predictive traffic analytics for major roads and highways as a cloud-based service, covering almost 8 million kilometres of roads. The data are gathered by crowdsourcing from connected vehicles with thousands of data sources.
Both Inrix’ real-time traffic data services as well as Here’s digital maps will be available in Volvo’s Sensus Connect combined infotainment and navigation system. Initially they will be usable in the new XC90 SUV model, starting November 2015. Gradually the services will also be made available to all future vehicle models of the Swedish carmaker.
